Why Display the Ten Commandments in your home? -------------------------------- Here are more details: 1. Ten Commandments can save Saginaw, Michigan Commissioner: Commandments can save Saginaw Offers $10,000 to erect display WJRT By Jeff Piechowski SAGINAW (WJRT) - (12/18/06)--A Saginaw County politician says he has a solution to the area's problems: the Ten Commandments. County Commissioner Pat Wurtzel says he'd like to see the commandments on display in the lobby of the Saginaw County Governmental Center. . Under Wurtzel's plan, he'd like to see limestone tablets of the Ten Commandments installed in the lobby of the Governmental Center. In fact, Wurtzel has offered to pay roughly $10,000 toward the project out of his own pocket. It is unclear on whether the other county commissioners would approve such a plan. But Wurtzel thinks having the commandments on display would be a reminder to people, and he claims if everyone followed the commandments, the county and the world's problems would be wiped out. "A lot of people want to be politically correct," said Laurie Lisk of Bridgeport, "but yet they've forgotten that the Ten Commandments is the basically the basis of a society." http://abclocal.go.com/wjrt/story?section=local&id=4862503 --------------------------------- 2. Ten Commandments to be re-installed in Bozeman, Montana The Bozeman Fraternal Order of Eagles donated the monument to the city in the 1970s for display at the downtown Sorpotimist Park. The monument was moved earlier this year while the park was being renovated. The American Civil Liberties Union plans to review a decision by the Bozeman City Commission to reinstall a Ten Commandments monument in a city park. http://www.greatfallstribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061218/NEWS01/61218008/1002 -------------------------------------- 3. A new Ten Commandments Monument has been installed in the court house of Dixie County, Florida State/Church Watchdog Groups Seeks Plaintiffs to Sue Over Dixie County Decalog FFRF via BBSNews 2006-12-01 -- The Freedom From Religion Foundation, a national state/church watchdog group, is looking for Dixie County residents willing to join a lawsuit challenging the placement of a 6-ton monument of the Ten Commandments on the steps of the Dixie County Courthouse last week. The Foundation sent a formal request today to the Dixie County Board of Commissioners asking it to remove the monument. Making the violation even more egregious is the inscription at the base admonishing citizens to "Love God and keep his commandments." The Foundation has been contacted by many of its Florida membership. "We plan to sue, but we do need at least one local plaintiff who lives in Dixie County or who has very regular business at the courthouse," Gaylor said. http://bbsnews.net/article.php/20061201120201768 ------------------------------------------- 4. Judge Roy Moore and Foundation for Moral Law File Legal Brief Defending National Motto, In God We Trust November 30, 2006 Former Chief Justice Roy Moore and attorneys with the Foundation for Moral Law filed an amicus curiae brief today in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit arguing that the National Motto, ?In God We Trust,? is a constitutional acknowledgment of God that does not violate the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. Judge Moore and the Foundation asked the appeals court to uphold the lower court's ruling that atheist Michael Newdow, the plaintiff in this case, should not prevail in his quest to have ?In God We Trust? scrubbed from our currency and revoked as our National Motto. (Click here to read the brief.) Judge Moore said, It is absolutely ridiculous to think that judges will strike down our national motto because it offends some atheists. The motto simply recognizes the God which every president in their inaugural address has acknowledged and turned to for guidance and favor." This case features yet another outrageous attack by Michael Newdow in his relentless crusade against the fine American tradition of publicly acknowledging God as a nation. After renewing his battle against the Pledge of Allegiance, Newdow has now attacked “In God We Trust.” As Judge Moore and the Foundation point out in their brief, a national motto acknowledging our dependence upon God is not a “law respecting an establishment of religion,” which is what the Establishment Clause prohibits. The Motto is a general sentiment that reflects the country's trust in God, but it forces no one to believe (or not believe) or worship contrary to their own convictions. Just because Michael Newdow does not believe in God does not mean the nation must stop acknowledging Him. The courts reviewing this case should hold that the Motto is constitutional because it does not violate the words of the First Amendment. The Foundation for Moral Law, a national non-profit legal organization, is located in Montgomery, Alabama, and is dedicated to restoring the knowledge of God in law and government through two methods: litigation relating to moral issues and religious liberty cases; and education consisting of forums for the public and pastors' seminars. Thank you Judge Moore Campaign '$1 and a thank you' campaign launched for Judge Moore Tennessee man says nation needs more who are willing to stand up for beliefs. A new campaign has been launched to show that Christians in America do respect a man who stands by his Christian beliefs, even at great personal loss. The man being put on a pedestal for this campaign is Judge Roy Moore, the former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and now a leader of the Foundation for Moral Law and a columnist for WND. The goal, according to organizer Raymond Dyer, of Cookeville, Tenn., is to have many “perhaps a million“ people send Judge Moore a Christmas card and enclose a single dollar bill. Dyer told WND that he was reflecting recently on the sacrifices the nation's Founding Fathers made, pledging their personal lives, fortunes and sacred honor, to the concept of a nation founded with the recognition that citizens' rights come from the "Hand of Providence," the Lord God Almighty, not government. "I saw his book on my bookshelf, and I said, 'There's one great man right there, he sacrificed his fortune,'" Dyer said. Moore, of course, was removed from office because he refused to follow what he considered an unlawful federal court's order to remove a Ten Commandments monument from public display in Alabama. "He had the fortitude to stand for God's word, the Ten Commandments," Dyer told WND. "I said you know it would really be nice to send him a message. And if we could get several people across the U.S. to send him a Christmas card to say, 'Dear Judge Moore, Thank you. We haven't forgotten you.'" "Judge Moore could have done what the majority of today's people would do by taking the 'easy way' out, saying or doing nothing, and placing personal convenience (job, income & financial security) over principle (God's laws)," Dyer wrote. But he didn't. "Now it is our turn to reciprocate and let Judge Moore know that he is appreciated and not forgotten!" Dyer said. And as a bonus, he said, "We will also be sending a powerful message to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) that evil will not prevail in America!" The plan couldn't be simpler: "You and as many family members and friends that you can contact by e-mail, letter or telephone, are encouraged to send Judge Moore a Christmas card and enclose one dollar ($1.00) or more as a small token of our appreciation for his efforts and sacrifices that he made." "I have contacted and received a heartfelt appreciation from Judge Moore for this effort," Dyer said. His goal? "One million Christmas cards for Judge Moore!" "I ask for your prayers that this undertaking may be blessed by our Creator," he said. The address is: Roy S. Moore P.O.
